Hello City of Burlington, my name is Dave Babula and I am ready to go to work full time for you as your Mayor. As you can see by the quality of my Running Mates for Council, team building is one of my talents. I feel honored and excited to have Marie, Anthony and Alan stand shoulder to shoulder with me to better serve you if given the opportunity in November. We will produce positive change throughout the City. We are ready. The time is now.
How many of us have said, "Burlington has so much potential" and "Why doesn't the City make better use of our great waterfront?" As your Council President I worked together with the People of Burlington and The Olin Group, a world class waterfront architecture firm, to develop a simple and powerful plan to beautify and energize the Promenade. Olin designed the remaking of Battery Park in New York City which is similar in size and shape to our own space along the Delaware River. As your Mayor I will begin to implement the Olin Plan in 2024. The time is right. A copy of the plan is available here.

Also, approximately 24 new Day Slip dock spaces will be constructed and put to good use. The plans for these new slips were designed through a federal grant obtained by ARH Engineering. It is long past time to make the vision of these new docks a reality also. Naturally our existing docks will also be repaired and maintained in a timely manner without excuses or hefty engineering costs so that you can use them as needed during the entire boating season.
Along with my 15 years of Country Club Management experience I have completed more than 400 credit hours of certifiied continuing education courses offered by The Club Managers Association of America. I am well prepared to plan and execute Capital Improvement Projects on time and under budget, to create an Happy and Healthy Workplace and to effectively manage day to day Challenges. Additionally, I am currently licensed as an Insurance Agent in 35 states across the country, so risk management is another tool in the tool chest. I am well prepared to produce the improvements this town needs and deserves.
The projects listed above are just a few of the many projects on the Burlington Wins 2023 to do list. Please stay tuned to our website for updates, upcoming events and new postings. We have much more to roll out as we move forward with you. Much more. In closing, by now, you all know your Burlington Wins 2023 team very well. Combined, we have been serving the Burlington Community for 111 years. Team building is fun and we look forward to teaming up with you, The People of Burlington, to make our City beautiful and safe. If not now, when?
When we win, You win.
Burlington Wins 2023.
Hello, my name is Ila Marie Lollar; but call me Marie. I was born and raised in Burlington; attended school here and graduated class of 1974 from the Burlington City High School. I married my husband Ralph in 1977. We decided to make Burlington our home and began having babies in 1980. From that point I was busy chasing children, paying bills and trying to stay involved in my community and the schools my children attended. I became involved in their classes, with their teachers and eventually the PTA. I also made sure to involve myself in as many community events as possible such as Holiday Parades, Wood Street Fair and City Celebrations. As my children moved through the grades into different schools I followed into each school's PTA.
Finally I moved to the High School became the president of the PTA, project graduation chairman and the snack shack director. Cooking and selling hotdogs, soda, fries and anything I could at home football games. Raising funds for PTA projects and providing every student volunteer a minimum wage payment to be placed in their high school student accounts. Allowing them to defray the cost of their senior class trip, class ring or anything they had to pay for in their senior year. Our snack shack was named best in Burlington County by the Burlington County Times, which was a huge surprise for us all. I also worked with and was awarded honorary membership in the JROTC Blue Devil Battalion Army.
At the end of 2004 I took a breather only to be asked in 2005, to run for council. I won the 4th ward seat and began my journey with fellow council members and the mayor in 2006. I've worked on every conceivable committee or subcommittee and learned so much from so many people of this community.
In 2016 and 2017 I had the privilege to help develop, with Reverend Covington of Sisterhood, the Summer Ready Program. Keeping young people motivated in math, science and reading. Working with each student, taking them on trips, and making sure they had breakfast, lunch and snacks when hungry. They were always hungry.
I was chosen President of Council in 2012 and 2013 then again in 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021. I retired in December of 2021 to allow myself the time I wanted to spend with my husband after his retirement. We were looking forward to traveling the United States and working for FEMA.
Providing services to people in areas where hurricanes, flooding, tornadoes and fires destroyed their homes and towns Unfortunately, life had other plans and my husband passed in December of 2022.
It has been my privilege and honor to work with 2 mayors, 4 chiefs of police, the staff and personnel that provide services in city-hall and the many council members of this city. I also love working with the many organizations in this city. Understanding the history of these organizations and intricate part they play in the success of the City of Burlington. I was recently named Citizen of the Year for 2022 by the Chamber of Commerce. Which was a wonderful surprise and honor.
I believe in the City of Burlington and its citizens. I believe we ALL want the best for this City and to be a part of the City's future success. I'm asking for your support in this November's election. Moving the City of Burlington forward in the right direction. Thank you. Marie
